Match Report
Leicester Grammar School 1st XI vs  Stamford
On: Tuesday, 01 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

Leicester Grammar 1st XI hockey team took on Stamford in a very wet and windy hockey game. Our passing was much improved on our previous game throughout the team, however a defensive error meant that Stamford were able to lead the game 0-1. We then managed to equalise as Harriet Prior showed great athleticism to receive a through ball, eliminating the defenders and calmly pushed the ball past the keeper. Harriet then went on to score another goal just before half time with Anna Chapman assisting her. Leicester Grammar started the second half positively. However, as we began to tire, Stamford became more threatening and midway through the second half caught us out to equalise the score. Much to our frustration, Stamford scored the winning goal in the last minute to win the game 3-2. Although conditions were not the best, we still took away many positives and have some things to work on. Thank you to Mrs Laybourne to for coaching.
