Match Report
Leicester Grammar School 1st XI vs  Oakham School
On: Thursday, 05 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

Leicester Grammar 1st XI hockey team’s first game was a tough one against a very experienced Oakham team. With most of us having a break from hockey over the summer, we knew this first game back would test our fitness. Roshni Francis used her speed on the left side to gain depth up the pitch, resulting in us winning two short corners. Unfortunately, we were not able to capitalise from them. Oakham then took their chances resulting in a few goals being conceded. We performed better in the second half and Caitlin Geraghty made some spectacular saves in goal. Francesca Jones was hit in the jaw and had to go off. Anna Kendall managed to find space in the D and had a reverse stick shot on goal but unfortunately the ball went wide. The final score ended 0-7 to Oakham. Despite the result, we took a lot of positives from the game and we look forward to progressing our hockey in training and in further games this season. Thank you to Mrs Laybourne and Mrs Richmond for coaching us.
