Match Report
Leicester Grammar School 1st XI vs  Loughborough High School for Girls
On: Monday, 16 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

Leicester Grammar 1st XI hockey team faced Loughborough High School at home. The game started evenly with both sides having their fair share of chances, but it was Leicester Grammar who then began to dominate possession with Emily Kendall scoring the first goal. Our defence provided a solid foundation, stopping any Loughborough advances. Anna Kendall scored the second goal, surging forward from her defensive position, giving Leicester Grammar a 2-0 lead. We had several shots on goal and chances from rebounds towards the end of the first half but some impressive saves from the Loughborough goalkeeper denied our attacks. The first few minutes of the second half saw Loughborough take more control up the pitch but as our formation started to improve, we started to move the ball on through the midfield. In only her second match for the first team, Harriet Prior claimed two splendid goals from two great runs from the right. The game ended in a 4-0 win to Leicester Grammar. Overall, we were all pleased with the performance, but we look forward to working on certain areas in training ready for our next match in early October. Thank you to Mrs Laybourne for coaching and umpiring.
