Director of Rugby's report - Welbeck/Langley/Lutterworth

The Schools Vase National competition saw the 1st XV face Welbeck. The improvement from the previous weekend was considerable but not enough; Keshen Pathmanathan and new centre pairing Potts and Linnett performed well in a fine contest. The performance of the week came from the 2nd XV who beat Welbeck convincingly, with Arunn Karunasagar and Seb Moss starring. The weekend saw a split fixture against Langley and Lutterworth High School. It was a morning where both the U15 and U13 sides were to regret basic errors and missed tackles, which meant winnable games were unfortunately lost. Oscar Stone and Alistair Milner on debut both put in very impressive performances, whilst the U12s defended superbly in a 15-all draw. The U14s were outgunned but never gave up against a strong Langley side. Finn Stacey, Alex Laurenti and James Ellis all shone in a testing fixture.

To make further progress this season all of our players must focus on doing simple things efficiently - straight running, sound handling and effective tackling are examples of where we can all improve.
